The Quarter under construction - June 2011
Tenants from around the country have responded enthusiastically to The Quarter, a multilevel shopping, business and leisure destination complex in Ballito, where construction is on track for the opening on 1 December this year.
“The response from prospective tenants and business has exceeded expectation and it illustrates the recognition of Ballito’s potential as a prime business and retail node in KwaZulu Natal”, says Louise Gibson of Comprop, the property management company marketing the 3700 square metre development. “We have had calls from all over South Africa and the result is a vibrant mix of restaurants, leisure, and the business-to-business service sector.”
Fully let but for one space that is currently under negotiation to house a “first-time” concept for Ballito, the complex includes a long awaited Thai restaurant, a Portuguese eatery, a confectionary, a specialist fish shop and a coffee bar. Business gets a boost from Future Vista, an IT training centre, contrasted on the leisure side by a beauty salon, hair salon and barber, as well as specialised décor and fashion outlets. A usual addition to the mix is Sugar Dance - a dance studio offering new and popular dance forms.
“The complex is largely about destination and choice,” says Louise. “It offers specialist eating, leisure and business services and experiences and is unique from this aspect in the node.”
Another plus is the ample secure parking facilities, at shop as well as basement level The tilt-wall design of the complex is a striking feature of its slick, contemporary architecture which sets the right tone for what promises to be the hot new spot for locals, holiday makers as well as business tourists.
